Summary

During the last 20 years, parents and teachers have passed along the secret of the Kissing Hand to children facing first days of kindergarten, first grade, and other separations。 Now younger children can get in on Mama Raccoon's secret and find comfort in A Kissing Hand for Chester Raccoon, a board-book adaptation of the original picture book。 Chester could feel his mother's kiss leap straight into his heart。 "With a Kissing Hand," said Chester's mom, "We'll never be apart。" "Just press your hand upon your cheek and feel that loving glow。 It's Mommy saying, 'I love you,' wherever you may go。" The Kissing Hand has become a children's classic that has touched the lives of millions of children and their parents。 A Kissing Hand for Chester Raccoon conveys the heart of the story in rhyming verse, perfect for read-aloud and easy for even the little ones to remember and recite。 With illustrations by Barbara Gibson that capture the warmth and beauty of the original artwork, toddlers now share in the benefits from Mrs。 Raccoon's secret for making a child feel safe and secure。

Separation anxiety。

A great children’s book on the topic of separation anxiety。 My kids still love to get ‘kissing hands’ from me before they go anywhere, and I’ve had teachers tell me they hold their hands on their cheeks all class some days to feel brave & feel my love in a tangible way。

I had never heard of this book, and I read it to Elizabeth after it was gifted to her。 Oh so many tears。 So sweet and perfect to read when little one is starting day care or school。

Teachers can ease the pain of the first day by reading the story early in the morning and reassuring their students that their parents' love is with them all day long! The teachers could also make a craft for the students to take home to their parents with their hand print and a small heart cut out in the middle。 This would be a special first day of kindergarten memory and help to soothe the first day fears。 。。。more

I think that A Kissing Hand for Chester Raccoon is a fantastic book for kids。 This book discusses how children could potentially feel when they are first going to school or going somewhere they are unfamiliar with。 It also shows how parents attempt to make children feel better by telling them small things that make them feel at home or safe。 Overall it is a good book for children because it lets the kids know it is normal and okay to feel uneasy about starting something new。 The phrase that stuc I think that A Kissing Hand for Chester Raccoon is a fantastic book for kids。 This book discusses how children could potentially feel when they are first going to school or going somewhere they are unfamiliar with。 It also shows how parents attempt to make children feel better by telling them small things that make them feel at home or safe。 Overall it is a good book for children because it lets the kids know it is normal and okay to feel uneasy about starting something new。 The phrase that stuck with me in this book is "everyone has to do some things they don't want to do sometimes。" 。。。more

I read this with my daughter and I really enjoyed it。 It has a good reading rhythm and cute illustrations。 I think it's a great premise and will grow well with her。 She isn't the most patient through the entire thing so maybe I would say it should go maybe for a slightly older group。 I honestly gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars because Chester Raccoon is hard to say aloud。 I read this with my daughter and I really enjoyed it。 It has a good reading rhythm and cute illustrations。 I think it's a great premise and will grow well with her。 She isn't the most patient through the entire thing so maybe I would say it should go maybe for a slightly older group。 I honestly gave this book 4 instead of 5 stars because Chester Raccoon is hard to say aloud。 。。。more

This is a cute book to read for a bedtime story。 Overall, it's very light and sweet but there isn't much substance and the illustrations aren't particularly unique or stand out。 A fine enough book to keep in a home collection to read with young children。 This is a cute book to read for a bedtime story。 Overall, it's very light and sweet but there isn't much substance and the illustrations aren't particularly unique or stand out。 A fine enough book to keep in a home collection to read with young children。 。。。more

Aww what a lovely sweet story。 My goddaughter loved it。 When baby raccoon is starting school he doesn't want to go he wants to stay by his mother's side but he simply has to go。 Mother raccoon reassures her baby and kisses baby's palm saying that whenever they are apart she will always be in his heart。 The kiss reaches baby's heart and he feels that loving glow。 School no longer seems terrible or a place he doesn't want to go。 This really is a lovely story。 With beautiful illustrations Aww what a lovely sweet story。 My goddaughter loved it。 When baby raccoon is starting school he doesn't want to go he wants to stay by his mother's side but he simply has to go。 Mother raccoon reassures her baby and kisses baby's palm saying that whenever they are apart she will always be in his heart。 The kiss reaches baby's heart and he feels that loving glow。 School no longer seems terrible or a place he doesn't want to go。 This really is a lovely story。 With beautiful illustrations 。。。more

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I bought the board book for my son because he is so young still。 This book is about a raccoon who doesn't want to go to school。 He just doesn't want to leave his mother。 So she gives him a kiss on the hand and says that she is with him wherever he goes! Great adaptation of the large picture book。 Definitely better for 3-4 year olds, it has much more text than a 0-2 year old would listen to。 Baby & Toddler。 I LOVE THIS BOOK! This is one of my most favourite books of all times。 From the first moment I read it to my kindergarten class until this very day it still resonates deeply inside of me。 This charming, condensed board book version of the best-selling picture book, "The Kissing Hand" will once again bind hearts together as little ones head off to school。Chester is very anxious about attending Owl School (because racoons are nocturnal it will be night classes) and leaving his beloved mother's side at home。 He barg This is one of my most favourite books of all times。 From the first moment I read it to my kindergarten class until this very day it still resonates deeply inside of me。 This charming, condensed board book version of the best-selling picture book, "The Kissing Hand" will once again bind hearts together as little ones head off to school。Chester is very anxious about attending Owl School (because racoons are nocturnal it will be night classes) and leaving his beloved mother's side at home。 He bargains with her to be able to stay:"Chester Raccoon was very sad。He looked at his mommy and cried。"I don't want to go to school," he said。"I want to stay home by your side。"He tells her he will read his books, play with his friends and favourite toys and won't make very much noise。 Mrs。 Raccoon sees the anguish on in her little one's heart and on his face and right then and there she shares a wonderful secret that is sure to ease the pain of his separation anxiety from her。She opens up the palm of Chester's hand and plants a kiss。 Her kiss seems electrically charged and it travels from his tiny palm, up his arm and straight into his heart。 "With a Kissing Hand," said Chester's mom,We'll never be apart。""Just press your hand upon your cheekAnd feel the loving glow。It's Mommy saying, 'I love you,'Wherever you may go。"You can see by now this sweet book is written in rhyme and is a perfect read aloud as you both snuggle together。 It has language simple enough to be memorized and tucked in your little one's heart forever。 This meaningful gesture and words can then be called forth when needed most。。。 when mommy who is far away and unreachable。 Her loving implanted kiss will be the perfect antidote for the overwhelming feelings of missing her。 。。。more

A Kissing Hand for Chester Raccoon by Audrey Penn is a cute little story to help children with separation anxiety。 The copy I read is a shorter board book version。 Like most board books it only has a few pages but the story is still consistent and complete It is easy enough for a toddler to understand and be comforted by the thought of having one’s mother or father’s love with them always。 This is a book would easily become a favorite of a child with the colorful illustrations and the delightful A Kissing Hand for Chester Raccoon by Audrey Penn is a cute little story to help children with separation anxiety。 The copy I read is a shorter board book version。 Like most board books it only has a few pages but the story is still consistent and complete It is easy enough for a toddler to understand and be comforted by the thought of having one’s mother or father’s love with them always。 This is a book would easily become a favorite of a child with the colorful illustrations and the delightful animals。 My grandson’s kindergarten class has the longer original book in the classroom, but he thought the shorten version would be perfect for his 2-year-old-sister who goes to preschool a couple days a week。 He highly suggested that I buy the board book for a gift for her。 High recommendation if I say so myself。 An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 It was unsanitary-lots of animals that probably had rabies in the first place, were kissing each others hands and passing it along after they put it on their chest。 I would not recommend this book。 Plus who names their raccoon, Chester?

Marilyn

Such a sweet, charming book。。。while written for young children, it can be read to older children to bring up growing up and the fears of going to school for the first time。
